RUGBY, North Dakota, July 1, 2019 — The Prairie Village Museum in Rugby, North Dakota was recognized by Envision Cooperative and Cenex®, the energy brand of CHS, for being a unique source of pride in north-central North Dakota. A Cenex-sponsored grant, which was matched by CoBank, has led to a $15,000 total donation that will support upkeep and improvements to the museum, which preserves and documents artifacts and historic buildings of North Dakota.

The Geographical Center Historical Society of Rugby received a $7,500 donation from Envision Cooperative and Cenex. CoBank matched the donation, and a $15,000 check was presented to Stephanie Steinke, Director of the Prairie Village Museum, at a local Cooperative Steak Fry on Friday, June 28th. Funds will support future installations and maintenance at the museum’s 23 historic buildings and six exhibition halls.

“Envision Cooperative is proud to contribute to causes that celebrate what makes North Dakota communities unique,” said Steve Dockter, CEO of Envision Cooperative in Rugby. “North Dakotans are proud of our history, and it’s exciting that this gift from Cenex, CoBank and Envision Cooperative will help commemorate what makes Rugby unique.”

The donation was made possible through a grant program that encourages Cenex distributors to share stories about what makes their local communities special. In this case, Rugby was recognized for being the Geographical Center of North America and chose Prairie Village Museum as the donation recipient because of its commitment to documenting the history of Rugby. In total, Cenex businesses will receive more than $100,000 to give back to their communities this year.

“The Cenex brand has a deep-rooted history of serving the people and communities of rural America,” says Bryan Brignac, director of marketing at CHS, the nation’s largest farmer-owned cooperative. “We are proud of our Cenex distributors, like Envision Cooperative, who play an active role in enriching their communities.”
